Status: Part-Time/Full-time
Wage: $33.76 - $50.63 per hour. New hires may be eligible for up to a $5,000/$10,000 sign-on bonus (pro-rated based on FTE)
We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RT) or Respiratory Therapist Resident to:
- Provide treatment and diagnostic respiratory services to patients.
- Work at an ECMO Center of Excellence and Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Be an important member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Act as a resource to physicians and health care professionals.
- Gain experience within the organization and seek growth opportunities, which may include senior/lead roles and ECMO Specialist positions.
Minimum Education
Minimum – Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited School for Respiratory Therapy within the last 6 months.
Preferred – Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited School for Respiratory Therapy.
Minimum Licensure/Certifications
Minimum –
- Must obtain Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the State of Wisconsin within 6 months
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within 6 months of hire
- CPR/BLS
Preferred –
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the State of Wisconsin
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification within 12 months required (If pediatrics position)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification within 12 months required (If pediatrics position)
Schedule
Various FTE and shifts available, typically rotating 8 or 12-hour day/evening, evening/night, or day/night shifts. Every other weekend, holiday, and on-call rotation required. If 100% FTE: Monday - Friday, evening shift. This posting represents all available Respiratory Therapist and Resident openings with UW Health. There are positions available in multiple specialties/areas.
Pay
- UW Health offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Work experience that is relevant to the position will be taken into consideration when determining the starting base pay.
- This position includes a weekend and shift differential.
- External hires may be eligible for up to a $5,000/$10,000 sign-on bonus (pro-rated based on FTE).
- Relocation assistance may be available for qualified applicants.
Required Skills
- Ability to effectively educate others
- Ability to perform Respiratory Therapy procedures and have good problem solving sills
- Knowledge of home respiratory equipment
- Knowledge of current disease management guidelines and protocols
- Excellent verbal and written skills and be effective in time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with a variety of professionals and home care companies
- Ability to display leadership and professionalism while in the workforce
- Ability to interpret select laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Ability to collaborate with all members of the healthcare team and external customers
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Respiratory Assist Device (RAD) guidelines and Medicare regulations
- Demonstrates ability for complex clinical decision making
