Respiratory Therapist Job Description:
As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing respiratory care to children in various settings. If you thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting and have a passion for pediatric care, this is your chance to make a real difference one breath at a time.
Respiratory Therapist Key Responsibilities:
- Provide respiratory care to pediatric patients in various settings.
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate patient responses to therapy.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care and management.
- Apply scientific knowledge, technical expertise, and theory to practical clinical problems.
- Provide therapeutic, diagnostic, consultative, and supportive services for neonatal through adult patients and their families.
- Actively participate in resuscitative and emergent situations.
- Function within professional and hospital standards.
Required Skills
Respiratory Therapist Qualifications:
- Requires a valid Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
- Requires CRT. RRT strongly preferred before start for experienced RCPs and/or required within 6 months.
- Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification - American Heart Association (AHA) training is required within 6 months.
- Education - requires completion of a respiratory therapy program.
- No pediatric work experience is required.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with caregivers, colleagues, medical staff, and community partners.
